Animal Control Officers Duties
The Animal Control Officers ACO have a variety of duties to perform for the citizens of Osceola County. The main duty of an ACO is to enforce the Animal Control Ordinance that is in place for Osceola County. One of the ways they do this is by apprehending stray animals. This comes about when they get calls from citizens at our facility and through every day patrolling of neighborhoods. Another way is by checking animal records, provided by the citizen, for proof of the Rabies vaccination and Osceola County license. These are required to be updated yearly.
In addition to enforcing the Ordinance, ACOs also take bite case reports, advise the public on responsible pet ownership, advise the public about the proper procedures for a complaint, pick up trapped animals, and follow up on previous calls to ensure regulations are being followed.
Our officers are available up until midnight Monday through Friday and from 8 am - 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
