Osceola County Commissioners proclaimed Monday, January 3, 2011 as Osceola County Military Appreciation Day at their regular Board meeting Monday. Recently-returned Osceola County School Board Member on military leave Julius Melendez accepted the proclamation, along with recently-returned county employee John Montague and local veterans.
An estimated 279 Osceola County and Central Florida parents, teachers, leaders, activists and advocates convened at Osceola Heritage Park on Thursday, September 2, 2010 for the 2010 Community Youth in Crisis Conference, hosted by the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners.
Osceola County Road and Bridge will be resurfacing various roads in District 4 on designated dates. During this process there will be temporary lane closures, but no road closures; as such, traffic delays may be expected.
Frank will be serving his first term with the Osceola County Commission beginning November 2010. He has previously served in other local elected offices such as City of Kissimmee Commissioner and Mayor. He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2000 and served eight years until being termed out of office.
He developed a passion for charter school education as Mayor of Kissimmee. While serving in the legislature, he focused on two of his priorities: education, where he served seven of eight years on education committees; and economic development/pro-business taxation policy.
He currently serves as Chairman for the Small Business Regulatory Advisory Council which reviews state agency rules and their impacts on business. He is Vice-Chairman of the American Board Certification for Teachers of Excellence, which is a national alternative teacher certification board established by Congress in 2001.
Frank and his wife Juda grew up in Winter Haven, where he is a graduate of Polk Community College. He received his B.S. in Business Management from Florida Southern College.
Their daughter Laura and husband Aaron live in Virginia with their daughter Ella. Their son Ben is a Senior at Abilene Christian University and serves as a volunteer fire fighter and board member of the Potosi Volunteer Fire Department. The youngest son, Chris, is attending the University of Arkansas at Monticello on a rodeo scholarship as a steer wrestler.
