The objective of the Pre-Trial Release program (PTR) is to release defendants from jail who do not pose a high risk to the community and to ensure the defendants will attend required court appearances. PTR Officers conduct investigations of all persons arrested in Osceola County to determine eligibility for release. All release decisions are regulated by state statue and administrative orders. PTR may also be assigned by the Court to supervise defendants released from jail after posting a bond. In such cases, PTR supervises compliance with release conditions set by the Court. Pre-Trial Release puts an emphasis on public safety by providing multiple levels of supervision on released defendants, to include a high profile caseload, as well as, electronic monitoring and GPS supervision. Pre-Trial Release seeks to provide a cost-effective alternative to incarceration, thereby reducing the jail population.
