Public Safety Security

Public Safety Security Division (PSSD) provides security support at the downtown county complex 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. Services are also provided at the Osceola County Government Center, Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, and Health Department, Poinciana Tax Collectors Office, Osceola County Libraries and the front desk of Osceola County Jail on weekdays, except holidays, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Personnel respond to incidents, escorts, requests for assistance, and alarms; provide security at various meetings; Board of County Commissioners, Board of Adjustment, Code Enforcement Board, Facilities Management Meetings, Planning Commission. PSSD personnel perform other related security duties, especially during contingencies. Personnel provide protection for visitors, employees, and property; respond to requests for assistance; handle lost-and-found items; and enforce parking regulations on county property.

For the increased safety of those visiting the Osceola County Courthouse at 2 Courthouse Square, Kissimmee, Florida, security screenings will be conducted on everyone gaining access to the facility. This increased security is similar to measures currently used at other county facilities. Please consider the following if you plan to visit the Osceola County Courthouse:

  • Be prepared to place personal belongings (briefcases, purses, laptops, etc.) on the conveyer belt, and then walk through the metal detector.
  • Anyone with an item(s) in their possession deemed as contraband by security personnel will be directed to return it to their vehicle prior to being permitted entry to the meeting site.
  • Security personnel will not retain items at the access point for safekeeping. Anyone entering the controlled access point with anything deemed as contraband is subject to arrest.
  • Contraband is defined as: anything prohibited by law from being introduced into a courthouse or jail facility. Examples include knives, guns, ammunitions, sharp objects that can be used as weapons, pepper spray, concealed weapons, glass containers, drugs or drug paraphernalia, lasers, large belt buckles, metal/spiked belts, etc.
