Commissioner Michael Harford, who represents Osceola County's District 1, takes a look back at accomplishments over the past year. At a special meeting held prior to their regular Board Meeting today, Osceola County Commissioners elected Commissioner John Quiñones as Chairman and Commissioner Michael Harford as Vice Chairman of the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners for the upcoming year, effective immediately.
Osceola County Commissioners hosted a reception in Celebration of the Hispanic Heritage Month. The public enjoyed artwork exhibited by local artists associated with the Osceola Center for the Arts.

Osceola County District 1 Commissioner Michael Harford was recently re-appointed by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Board of Directors to a two-year term on the Water Resources Advisory Commission (WRAC). The WRAC is an advisory body to the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force.

Osceola County Commissioner Michael Harford, along with county staff, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, April 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. to open the Steffee Homestead Property located in 4280 West Vine Street Kissimmee, FL, 34746. The opening is the culmination of a cooperative team effort from the Board of County Commissioners, City of Kissimmee, South Florida Water Management District, Florida Communities Trust, Natural Resources, Road and Bridge, Community Development, Parks and GIS Divisions.

Osceola County Commissioners proclaimed Monday, January 3, 2011 as Osceola County Military Appreciation Day at their regular Board meeting Monday. Recently-returned Osceola County School Board Member on military leave Julius Melendez accepted the proclamation, along with recently-returned county employee John Montague and local veterans.

Osceola County, City of Kissimmee and University of Central Florida Business Incubation Program officials participated in the ground breaking of the UCF Business Incubator–Kissimmee on Thursday, June 24, at the City Centre, 111 E. Monument Avenue.

This new parks northern end is a quiet retreat with countless citrus trees and winding hiking trails. Or bring your own kayak or canoe to Steffee Landing at the parks southern end and explore two miles of Shingle Creek, the headwaters of the Florida Everglades.

Osceola County recently installed speed radar signs, also known as driver feedback signs, in the Indian Point community. The signs are traffic calming devices installed as part of a countywide effort to increase driver awareness and improve safety by slowing traffic throughout the county’s neighborhoods.

A life-long resident of Osceola County, Mike has served on numerous boards including the Osceola County Democrat Executive Committee, the Osceola County School Board, ORAC Board of Directors, Workforce Central Florida, Osceola County Fire Commission, and is a member of the Kiwanis Club, Osceola County Fire Commission, Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce and the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce.

Mike currently serves as Osceola County's representative on the Board of Directors for the Four Corners Area Council, myregion.org, Ten County Coalition for Water Issues, Toho Water Authority, W192 Redevelopment District Advisory Committee, Tourist Development Council, and the South Florida Water Management District Water Resources Advisory Commission.

Mike is President of Pinpoint Earth Construction Services, Inc. and is a Certified Florida Underground Utilities Contractor. He served in the U.S. Army 3rd Squadron 7th Calvary after graduating from Osceola High School.

Mike is the proud father of daughter Addie and son Zacc, and the "elated" grandfather of Layla, Bryson, and Jolene.
