The framework for Osceola County’s Tourism Enhancement Grant Program dates back to 1977 when the Florida Legislature enacted legislation for counties to impose a tax on visitors staying in hotel rooms or other short-term rental units. Soon afterwards, the Osceola Board of County Commissioners established the Tourist Development Council (TDC) to help establish the criteria for collecting the Tourist Development Tax (TDT) and use of those funds to further promote tourism.
