CDBG Rental Assistance Programs

2011-2012 Rental Assistance Program

This program provides assistance to Osceola County residents who are or in danger of becoming homeless. Assistance shall be limited to the first, second and third month's rent.

This program has eligibility requirements including but not limited to:

  • Must be low income, but have sufficient income to sustain rental payments (rent amount cannot exceed 35% of monthly income amount)
  • Demonstration of need (homeless, living in hotel/motel, served eviction notice)
  • Three hour Financial Educational class required
  • Location of rental unit must be within Osceola County, but cannot be located within City limits of Kissimmee
  • Must be a resident of Osceola County at least 6 of the previous 12 months
  • Cannot have been assisted with other program funding within the previous 18 months (Section 8, HPRP, SHIP, Council on Aging, Salvation Army, etc)
  • Rental unit must pass home quality standards inspection
  • Applicants must move into the rental unit prior to September 30, 2012

2011-2012 Emergency Rental Assistance Program

This program provides assistance to Osceola County residents who are in danger of becoming homeless due to their inability to pay their monthly rent. Assistance is limited to one month of rent payable to the landlord.

This program has eligibility requirements including but not limited to:

  • Documentation of financial hardship
  • Documentation of future financial management
  • Educational class attendance
  • Must be an Osceola County resident at least six of the previous twelve months
  • Location of rental unit (cannot be located within city limits of Kissimmee)
  • Delinquency notice from landlord
  • Must be low income

The application process will end when funds are no longer available. Phone calls from potential applicants will be accepted on the first and third Tuesday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Assistance will be granted on a first call, first ready, first served basis.
