Osceola County officials continue to monitor weather conditions associated with Hurricane Irene. Between this afternoon and Friday evening, residents in Osceola County, particularly in the eastern portion, should expect possible inland squalls containing wind gusts up to 40 mph and 1 to 3 inches of rain.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida, Hurricane Irene is now a Category 3 hurricane and continues to follow the track with maximum sustained winds near 115 mph. At this time, there are no watches or warnings for Florida.

Osceola County officials continue to monitor weather conditions associated with Hurricane Irene. According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida, Hurricane Irene is now a Category 2 hurricane and continues to move in the direction of the Florida peninsula with maximum sustained winds near 100 mph. It is still too early to tell the exact impact Hurricane Irene will have on Florida.
