The Natural Resource Department consists of four sections:

  • Mosquito Control
  • The Environmental Lands Conservation Program
  • Lakes Management
  • Stormwater NPDES Program

These programs existed in the County under different departments before they grew into what is now the Natural Resources Office.

What We Do

Mosquito Control actively reduces mosquito populations throughout the County which helps to reduce the transmission of diseases, like West Nile Virus. Plain and simple, Mosquito Control helps to rid us of those annoying pests!

If you would like to log a mosquito complaint, please contact Clarke Mosquito Management at 800-443-2034, Osceola County’s contracted service provider.

Lands Conservation is responsible for facilitating the acquisition and management of properties purchased for conservation in the County. Since the inception of the program, the County has acquired 2,575 acres of land from Shingle Creek to north east of Lake Kissimmee.

Please feel free to contact us at conservation@osceola.org or at 407-742-8650 with any questions or concerns you may have.

Lakes Management is responsible for coordinating with other agencies to ensure our lakes are meeting their designated uses by providing habitat for fish and wildlife, managing aquatic invasive plants, ensuring flood control and ensuring recreation and public access are available to residents and visitors to the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes. In addition, Lakes is responsible for ensuring water pollution is prevented through the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System NPDES Program.

The newest addition to the Natural Resources Family is the NPDES Program. The NPDES program was authorized by the Clean Water Act to control water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants into waters of the United States. This program will be housed within Lakes Management as it relates to protecting the County’s Natural Resources by preventing water pollution from entering stormwater systems that eventually lead to our creeks, streams and lakes.

For more information on the Lakes and NPDES Programs, please contact Dr. Tina Bond at tbon@osceola.org or 407-742-8653.
