Level of Service - Roads

The accepted method of analyzing the condition of road facilities is through an assessment of the "Level-of-Service" (LOS) of the individual roadways or roadway links. Level-of-Service indicates through qualitative measures operational conditions of roadway facilities. Thus, LOS indicates quality of flow measured by some scale of driver satisfaction. There are six Levels-of-Service used in transportation planning that are ranked in descending order of safety and convenience of travel from Level A to Level F.
