Osceola County - A Brief History of Purchasing

On May 24, 1993, the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners adopted the Osceola County Administrative Code and thereby officially created the Procurement Services Division. On March 9, 1998, the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners amended the Administrative Code with an updated Purchasing Code to further enable the user departments to improve purchasing capabilities and increase the efficiency of their respective departments.

The Procurement Services Division was further tasked with the centralization an administration of purchasing policy and procedures and the combination of procurements to optimize taxpayer's funds. In 2001, the Board, in a Countywide reorgizational effort, created the Procurement Services Division under the Financial Services Department to enhance synergistic effects of purchasing and fiscal management. Today, the Procurement Services Division continues to strive for "continuous process improvement" by constantly looking for better ways to provide quality products and services for the Citizens of Osceola County.
