Florida Hospital Celebration Health Opens New Patient Tower

The new tower holds the first interactive patient care unit in the country.

Osceola County, Florida - Butterflies filled the air as members of the community celebrated the grand opening of the new patient tower at Florida Hospital Celebration Health. Those in attendance not only took part in the butterfly release, but were a part of the first public tour of the 234,000 sq. foot, 62 bed addition to the hospital. This expansion brings Florida Hospital Celebration Health to a 174 bed facility.

The new patient tower allows Florida Hospital Celebration Health to provide care for the growing population of Osceola County. The expansion of the emergency department, additional beds and staff will allow for the growing healthcare needs of this community whose population has increased by more than 50 percent over the past decade. The advanced patient experience technology in the new patient tower, the Global Robotics Institute and the Nicholson Center make Florida Hospital Celebration Health a growing destination for national and international patients willing to travel to receive the very best in health care.

The new patient tower also brings economic opportunities in the form of jobs to the Osceola County community. Projected job growth for the new patient tower alone is 98 full time positions in 2011. By 2012 that number is projected to grow to 144 positions and by 2018, the patient tower will have created 320 jobs.

Something as simple as turning on the light is designed to improve the patient experience at Florida Hospital Celebration Health. When a caregiver walks into the room, a light coming on over the sink serves as a simple reminder to wash their hands. A directional light near the bedside allows the nurse enough light to make notes or take vital signs without disturbing a resting patient. In addition, patients have the opportunity to choose how brightly their room is illuminated with morning, evening and rest settings.

These lighting options are just part of what will be studied on the 3rd floor of the new tower as part of the Interactive Patient Care Unit, the first of its kind in the nation. In connection with the Institute for Interactive Patient Care, everything from new patient safety technology to changing ways to communicate with patients about their care could be studied as part of the unit. The goal is to conduct research on the best practices of patient and family engagement and share those results with other health care institutions for their adoption.

El Florida Hospital Celebration Health Abre Nueva Torre de Pacientes

La nueva torre es la primera unidad interactiva de atención al paciente en el país.

Condado de Osceola, Florida – Mariposas llenaron el aire mientras miembros de la comunidad celebraban la inauguración de la nueva torre de paciente en el Florida Hospital Celebration Health. Los asistentes no sólo participaron en la liberación de las mariposas, sino que eran parte de la primera gira pública de los 234,000 pies cuadrados y 62 camas adicionales del hospital. Con la expansión el Florida Hospital Celebration Health tiene ahora 174 camas en las instalaciones.

La nueva torre de pacientes permite al Florida Hospital Celebration Health atender a la creciente población del Condado de Osceola. La expansión del departamento de emergencias, camas adicionales y personal ayudará con las crecientes necesidades de salud de esta comunidad cuya población ha aumentado en más del 50 por ciento en la pasada década. Algo tan simple como encender la luz está diseñado para mejorar la experiencia del paciente en el Florida Hospital Celebration Health. Cuando un proveedor de atención médica entre en un cuarto, una luz que viene sobre el lavamanos sirve como un simple recordatorio para lavarse las manos. Una luz direccional cerca de la cama permite a la enfermera suficiente luz para hacer notas o tomar signos vitales sin molestar a un paciente en descanso. Además, los pacientes tienen la oportunidad de elegir la iluminación de su habitación durante la mañana, tarde y en su descanso.

Estas opciones de iluminación son sólo una parte de lo que será estudiado en el tercer piso de la torre nueva como parte de la Unidad Interactiva de Cuidado al Paciente, la primera en su clase en la nación. En conexión con el Instituto para Cuidado Interactivo al Paciente, incluyendo nuevas tecnologías de seguridad para los pacientes a los cambios de formas de comunicarse con los pacientes sobre su cuidado podría ser estudiado como parte de la unidad. El objetivo es realizar investigaciones sobre las mejores prácticas para paciente y participación familiar y compartir los resultados con otras instituciones de salud para su adopción.
