Osceola County Commission Breaks Ground on Hickory Tree Community Park

Osceola County, Florida – Osceola County Chairman Fred Hawkins, Jr., joined by county staff and members of the project team, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony recently to mark the commencement of improvements to Hickory Tree Community Park.

The project consists of the renovation of Hickory Tree Community Park for the use of the public, and in particular, the St. Cloud Pop Warner Football League.

Some of the improvements will include: installation of new sod, field lighting, new bleachers, improved site grading, clean-up and enlargement of the stormwater retention pond, new parking areas, and emergency access roads.

"This was a goal of mine coming into the office. The community waited a long time for this to happen and we are glad to finalize it. I'm also proud of the local businesses and their participation," said Chairman Hawkins.

The completion date is scheduled for August 15, 2010, with a total cost of $2,400,000.
