Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington was elected Vice-Chairman of the Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission Governing Board at its January 27th meeting. The meeting, which was the first of the new year, immediately followed the historic groundbreaking on SunRail Phase 1 at the home of the future Altamonte Springs station.

The traffic shifts originally scheduled to take place starting today on Hoagland Blvd. between US 192 and 5th Street have been delayed. The shifts have been rescheduled to begin Tuesday, January 17th.

In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, Osceola County administration offices and the Courthouse will be closed on Monday, January 16th. Offices will re-open on Tuesday, January 17th.

As part of ongoing construction, the contractor for the Hoagland Blvd. project has scheduled a traffic shift on Tuesday, January 10, 2011. There will be intermittent lane closures for the remainder of this week, as well as on Monday, January 9th and Tuesday, January 10th

In light of recent cold weather and current dry conditions, Osceola County is instituting a burn ban for all types of outside burning including open fire pits, campfires and yard debris within the unincorporated areas of Osceola County.

In observance of the Christmas holiday, Osceola County Administration offices and the Osceola County Courthouse will be closed on Friday, December 23rd and Monday, December 26th. Additionally, Osceola County Administration offices and the Osceola County Courthouse will be closed on Monday, January 2nd in observance of New Year's Day.

Osceola County Commissioner Fred Hawkins, Jr., along with county staff, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. to open Phase I of the Camp Lonesome Conservation Area.

Crews from Centurylink have an emergency repair job that involves closing down the outside southbound through lane on John Young Parkway at Donegan Ave. Working hours are between 10:00 pm - 5:00 am starting Thursday night.

Osceola County Commissioners voted today in favor of outsourcing management of Osceola County Library operations, saving taxpayers an estimated $6 million over the next five years. LSSI could begin operations of the library system as early as January 3, 2012.

As the Three Kings travel to Bethlehem they will make a brief stop in Osceola County for a press conference scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13 in front of the Osceola County Administration Building.

Crews will be working on six (6) separate road resurfacing projects in early December. Motorists are urged to use caution when approaching these areas, as there will be temporary lane closures, but no road closures.

Motorists are urged to use caution when approaching this area, as workers will be present and speed limits may be reduced in certain areas. Traffic delays can be expected. Schedules could vary according to weather and equipment-related issues.
In observance of Veterans Day, Osceola County Government Offices and the Courthouse will be closed on Friday, November 11th. Offices and the Courthouse will re-open on Monday, November 14th.

The Osceola County Office of Emergency Management is informing residents that FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), will conduct the first nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) Test on Wednesday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m.
