Osceola County is holding an Open House in regards to the new preliminary flood hazard maps for each area.

This video, recorded on September 8, 2011, gives residents a general overview in regards to the New Flood Hazard Maps coming to Osceola County. The general overview gives information on flood maps, flood zones, flood insurance requirements, mandatory flood insurance requirements, appeals & protests, and how to view the preliminary maps.

Osceola County, the City of St. Cloud and the City of Kissimmee are holding a Stakeholders Meeting in regards to the new preliminary flood hazard maps. Are you a Lender, Realtor, Surveyor, Engineer, Builder/Developer, Insurance Agent, Flood Zone Determination Company, Business, Community Association, Civic Organization, or a Chamber of Commerce? If so, you have a stake in this meeting.

Osceola County, the City of St. Cloud and the City of Kissimmee are holding an Open House in regards to the new preliminary flood hazard maps for each area.

As a part of the Osceola County Natural Resources Floodplain Community Rating System Program staff conducts education through interactive presentations on Floodplains and Water storage.

Flood Insurance Rate Maps FIRMs cannot reflect every variation in the physical geography of an area. Therefore, a FIRM occasionally will show a property as being in a Special Flood Hazard Area SFHA, even though the building may be above the Base Flood Elevation BFE.

Effective March 16, 2009

FEMAs new Elevation Certificate EC was approved for use, effective March 16, 2009, through March 31, 2012. The new EC will be phased in on a voluntary basis until March 31, 2010.

Changes Effective October 1, 2009

On October 1, 2009, important changes to the National Flood Insurance Program NFIP will take effect. There will be an increase in rates, the standard deductibles, and the basic insurance limits.
