Commissioner Cheryl Grieb, who represents Osceola County's District 4, is at Cherokee Point for the dedication of the boardwalk and trails at Cherokee Point Conservation Area to the memory of former County Commissioner Frank Attkisson. The property consists of 183 acres along the shores of Lake Tohopekaliga, in the serene Goblet's Cove area. This site is frequently visited by wildlife, especially a variety of bird species, such as the endangered Everglades snail kite, Sandhill Crane, Bald Eagle, Caracara, white pelican (winter) and several waterfowl species.
Cherokee Point is open to the public for passive recreational use and serves as a conservation area for native wildlife and vegetation habitat.
