Ceremony Planned for New Osceola County Engine

Photo/Interview opportunities

WHO: County Commissioners, fire officials, community members and other guests.

WHAT: Reporters and photo/video crews are invited to a ceremony as a new engine is put into service at Station 62.

BACKGROUND: The Pierce Impel Pumper will result in increased reliability and lower maintenance costs as it replaces an older model with more than 345,000 miles of service.

Osceola Fire Rescue will reflect time-honored traditions of the fire service with a “Push Back” ceremony. The first part of the ceremony involves washing, then drying off the new Engine 62. Then firefighters will push the new apparatus into the firehouse, a tradition that dates back to the 19th century when horses could not properly back into the station with the wagon attached.
