Planned Road Treatments

Osceola County Road and Bridge will be preparing various dirt roads for Chip Seal surface treatment starting October 1, 2014. Chip Seal is a surface treatment that combines one or more layers of asphalt emulsion with one or more layers of fine aggregate. Chip Seals are typically used on rural dirt roads carrying lower traffic volumes and is utilized to reduce maintenance costs. This product is being used due to cost effectiveness and durability when compared to similar type surface treatment options. Chip Seal is not considered an asphaltic pavement. The process for implementation is as follows:
- County staff will profile each road for elevation accuracy
- County staff will prepare the base
- Approved contractor will perform the Chip Seal surface treatment
Phase 1 is scheduled to be completed prior to January 1, 2015. The following are roads in Phase 1:
