Osceola OKs Negotiations with Firm for Judge Farms Master Plan

Osceola County, Florida – Osceola County will negotiate with a Texas firm that has the reputation for designs that transform lives and enhance communities to create a master plan for a 500-acre research park that is already home to the Florida Advanced Manufacturing Research Center.
County commissioners gave the OK Monday to begin negotiations with Perkins+Will, a selection committee’s top-ranked firm with 24 offices around the world. The company has an extensive resume of research park master planning.
“This is one more step in our efforts to plant the flag in the fertile high-tech field tied to smart sensor technology,” said Commission Chairwoman Viviana Janer. “In order to grow our project, we need a firm with the expertise to help us create a research park that will complement the FAMRC and bring in the types of companies that will stimulate our economy for decades to come.”
The 5-person committee picked Perkins+Will after presentations and question and answer sessions with the three top firms last week.
The firm will help with design, plan, engineer and brand the FARM, as the research park is currently known. According to its Web Site, Perkins+Will inspires “the creation of spaces in which clients and their communities work, heal, live, and learn.” The company’s portfolio is filled with examples of research parks. The committee liked the company’s approach and the way it could connect the campus to downtown Kissimmee, as well as creating a balance of industrial and research uses with the public spaces.
The FARM will be home to other high-tech firms and also have urban and mixed uses, officials said.
