Observation Site on Kings Highway Closed Until Further Notice

Published on: Aug 10, 2016

Osceola County, Florida – A viewing area for an American bald eagle nesting site is closed until further notice.

The site opened in April 2012 when safety concerns for birdwatchers, photographers and the public in general led to parking restrictions on the right-of-way on Kings Highway near the nest. Kings Highway is a two-lane road with steep banking. Observers stopped at the site posed a threat to public safety, officials determined.

The property for the site is owned by developer D.R. Horton, who did not charge the county for use of the site at the intersection of Kings Highway and Henry Partin Road.
