Osceola County, Florida – Beginning Monday (10-9), the location of the Hurricane Maria Reception Center that opened Friday will shift building locations within Osceola Heritage Park.

Beginning Monday, the hurricane reception center will be relocated a short distance -- to the entrance at 1000 Bill Beck Boulevard. The hours will remain fixed at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week.

Osceola County opened the center to provide local resources to hurricane evacuees arriving in Central Florida – the Osceola reception center is conveniently located and serves as a local alternative to the Orlando International Airport center, which was opened under an executive order from Gov. Rick Scott. On Saturday and Sunday, almost 90 families took advantage of the assistance available at the new Osceola reception center.

Under the guidance of Osceola County Human Services, partners include: Council on Aging, Community Hope Center – IDignity, Osceola Community Health Services, Community Vision, Park Place Behavioral Health Care, Osceola County Human Services, Health Insurance Store, Florida Department of Health, Osceola County School District, LYNX, Career Source, Goodwill Industries, Family Physicians Group, Cornerstone Hospice, Valencia State College and Carrousel Therapy Center.

People who need assistance are also urged to call 211, which connects to an umbrella of services available in Central Florida. Osceola County also opened an assistance line at 407-742-8598.

Note: The Center is separate from FEMA’s Hurricane Irma efforts that are currently underway at the Exhibition Hall at OHP.
