Shingle Creek Basin Study

Shingle Creek Stormwater Management Project Area Map

This project aims to improve stormwater management in Osceola County by addressing flooding, water quality, and the protection of surface and groundwater resources. It comprises three phases: inventory and problem definition (Phase 1), engineering analysis of existing stormwater systems (Phase 2), and alternative analysis (Phase 3). The project area, encompassing Shingle Creek and West Branch, spans 32 square miles, extending from the Osceola-Orange County line to Lake Tohopekaliga. Phase 1 has been completed, Phase 2 is currently underway, and Phase 3 is scheduled to commence in January 2024. The study’s objective is to reduce flooding and enhance water quality in the basin, ultimately benefiting the region that discharges into Lake Tohopekaliga.
