Osceola Energy Initiative Graduating Class

Published on: Apr 27, 2012

On March 30th, 2012, the Osceola Energy Initiative (OEI) saw the first group of 12 Interns graduate from its Energy Efficiency and Retrofit Certification Program. During the four weeks of class training the interns received OSHA 10-Hour Hazard Recognition Training, DOE Florida Weatherization Technician Training, and the opportunity to achieve Green Advantage® Certification. Upon completion they were immediately placed with OEI Participating Contractors.

Scott Grieves, CEA Sr. Energy Conservation Specialist from Kissimmee Utility Authority commended students from the graduating class by stating, "I was able to work alongside two of your students yesterday working for Topline Construction GC builder, Jeff Clair. I was very impressed with Jeff Clair's commitment to help OEI, mentor students, and begin the process of upgrading a home that was built in the 70's. I believe we need more people just like Jeff Clair - his team assisted me in measuring the home, windows, setting up the blower door and duct blaster! Wow they made my day so much easier and were great to work with."

Intern graduates were hand-picked to receive paid on-the-job training from OEI Participating Contractors including; All Elements Mechanical, Comfort Suites Maingate, Council on Aging, Infiniti Housing LLC, Starr Mechanical, Summerton Construction, and Topline Construction Services, Inc. During the on-the-job job training, graduates are receiving hands-on training completing energy retrofits and upgrades, weatherization projects, HVAC upgrades and other practical energy efficiency experience at residences and businesses throughout the community.
