Public Works

Overview

Public Works is responsible for the administrative oversight of the following services: tracking contracts and invoice approvals, departmental budgeting, purchases, customer service, correspondence and agenda item preparation, contract construction management, and development construction.

The Public Works Department is also responsible for Fleet Management, Road and Bridge, Solid Waste, and Natural Resources (Stormwater, Lakes Management, and Mosquito Control).

Shingle Creek Closure - Osceola County will begin construction to remove the shoal at the mouth of Shingle Creek beginning August 1, 2021. The dredge operation is expected to last until late April 2022, barring weather and unforeseen events. The project will begin with the laying of dredge pipes in Shingle Creek from the shoal in Lake Tohopekaliga to the spoil disposal site on Lancaster Ranch Park. Shingle Creek will be closed to all but official and emergency navigation traffic from just west of John Young Parkway to Lake Tohopekaliga from October 18, 2021 to April 30, 2022. Total closure time will be based on weather and contractor need. Please take any appropriate actions related to your watercraft currently or planned to be moored in Shingle Creek. C-35 Canal in Cypress Lake Closure - County will begin construction to remove the shoal at the mouth of the C-35 Canal in Cypress Lake beginning October 25, 2021. The dredge operation is expected to last until December 2021, barring weather and unforeseen events. The project will begin with the laying of dredge pipes in the C-35 from the shoal in Cypress Lake to the spoil disposal site along the C-35 north of the shoal. The C-35 canal will be closed to all but official and emergency navigation traffic from October 25, 2022 to December 25, 2021. Total closure time will be based on weather and contractor need.
