Do I need a permit?

Any structural improvement or work that is regulated and requires a licensed contractor will require a building permit.

Not required

Activity that does not require a permit in Osceola County includes:

  • Yard / garage sales*
  • Burglar monitoring / security alarm system*
  • Cosmetic interior work like painting, wallpaper, tile work, cabinets, wood trim
  • Minor repairs such as replacing carpet, flooring, light fixtures
  • Removing / replacing drywall
  • Swapping faucets or shower heads if no plumbing rerouting is involved
  • Clearing sewer blockages or repairing leaks
  • Non-structural landscaping

*Yard/garage sale: If you reside within City of Kissimmee or City of St. Cloud limits, you must apply for a garage sale permit with their office.

*Security alarm system: If you reside within City of Kissimmee or City of St. Cloud limits, you must apply for an alarm permit with their office.
