On October 1, 2023, the Osceola County Consortium received an annual allocation from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the HOME Investment Partnerships Program. The Program was established under the Title II of the National Affordable Housing Act. The purpose of the HOME funding is to expand the supply of decent, affordable housing and strengthen the ability of state and local governments to provide housing by public-private partnerships.

The HOME regulations require the Osceola County Consortium to set aside 15% of its annual HOME allocation for Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs). CHDOs are private, nonprofit, community-based organizations with qualified staff that are receiving HOME funds as the owner, developer, or sponsor, of affordable housing in the community they serve.

Osceola County has $100,125.48 in HOME funds to allocate to a CHDO project. Applications are available to organizations that meet the CHDO definition and request funding to rehabilitate a multifamily rental development owned by the CHDO in Osceola County. All units assisted with HOME funds must be occupied by households earning 80% or below of the median income for the area.

CHDO applications for the Osceola County Consortium can be obtained by emailing CDBG@osceola.org. The application is also available at www.Osceola.org/Services/Housing-Programs/HOME-ProgramThe deadline to submit the CHDO application to the Osceola County Housing and Community Services Department is Monday, March 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
