Transition from Task Force to Chamber of Commerce highlights evolution of long-standing partnership

LAKE, ORANGE, OSCEOLA, AND POLK COUNTY, FLA. – After years of coordinated regional leadership, the Four Corners Commissioners Task Force, consisting of current and former leaders from Lake, Orange, Osceola, and Polk counties, are marking a transition in their collaborative efforts, as a new regional chamber of commerce has been established to carry forward and expand upon that work.

For years, the Task Force and Council have brought together leaders from Lake, Orange, Osceola, and Polk counties to address shared challenges and opportunities related to transportation, infrastructure, growth management, public safety and environmental stewardship. That collaboration has helped unify a region that functions as a single community despite crossing multiple county lines.

As the Task Force concludes its work in its current form, community and business leaders have stepped forward to build on that foundation by creating the 4 Corners Chamber of Commerce, Inc. The Chamber will serve as an independent, business-led organization focused on advancing regional priorities and strengthening coordination between the public and private sectors, with founding board members including the four Commissioners who served on the Four Corners Commissioners Task Force, as well as a former Lake County Commissioner who also previously served, all participating in their individual capacities as private citizens.

The Four Corners region is one of the fastest-growing areas in Florida, with ongoing coordination across jurisdictions playing a critical role in maintaining quality of life and supporting economic opportunity.

The newly formed chamber is expected to:

  • Provide a unified voice for the business community across the four-county region
  • Support workforce development and economic growth initiatives
  • Advocate for infrastructure and long-term regional planning
  • Strengthen collaboration between public and private stakeholders

While the structure of regional collaboration is evolving, the shared commitment among local governments to work together on issues impacting the Four Corners area remains unchanged.

Lake County Commissioner Sean Parks

“The Four Corners region functions as one community, even though it's divided by county lines. This Chamber is a natural next step. Forming the Chamber will help us align private investment with the regional vision we’ve built, so we can manage growth responsibly and support long-term economic success.”

Orange County Commissioner Nicole Wilson

“The Four Corners is a vibrant and rapidly growing region, driven by the residents and businesses who call it home. Transitioning from the Task Force to a Chamber of Commerce is the next step in our mission to improve the quality of life and economic opportunity in the region. The Chamber will allow us to bring the community’s voice directly into the conversation and strengthen our ability to work across county lines. I’m grateful and excited to support this new chapter and help foster a more coordinated, responsive approach that empowers the families and businesses in the Four Corners area.”

Osceola County Commissioner Peggy Choudhry

“Four Corners has seen tremendous growth over the years, driven by strong partnerships and a shared commitment to supporting residents and businesses in this unique, multi-county region.  The formation of this new chamber represents a natural next step, building on the strong foundation that has already been laid and ensuring that the progress we’ve made continues in a more unified and strategic way. This is about sustaining momentum, strengthening collaboration, and making sure Four Corners remains a place where businesses can thrive and families can succeed for years to come.”

Polk County Commissioner Martha Santiago

“This new chamber is exactly what is needed in the Four Corners area. As commissioners who have served on the Task Force and represent these areas, we know the needs of our four counties in the Four Corners area. Issues like transportation and economic development are just some of the things we can help address as chamber founders.”

Former Lake County Commissioner Doug Shields

“When I ran for the Lake County Commission, it became very clear that Four Corners was an underserved area of the County. When the Commissioners from Polk, Osceola and Orange reached out to try and solve some issues for the area, I was all in,” said former Lake County Commissioner Doug Shields. “As things progressed and I was serving on the Lake Board, I learned firsthand that the area did not have a voice at the Lake County Board. I am hoping that this new chamber will provide that voice to the residents and businesses of Four Corners, to not only Lake County but the others as well.”
