Osceola County, Florida – The Florida Department of Health-Osceola temporarily closed registration for the COVID-19 vaccination on Wednesday and will resume the process when it receives more vaccine from the State of Florida.

Residents can monitor http://osceola.floridahealth.gov/ for updates on COVID-19 vaccine availability.

Those already registered are being scheduled for shots or have already received vaccinations. The health department said 170 people were vaccinated on Tuesday and 366 are scheduled for today (Wednesday).

It is vital for the public to realize that the quantity of vaccine released from the State to Osceola and other counties is far short of the amount needed for those eligible to receive it. As more vaccine is received in coming weeks and months, more people will be able to receive shots.

In the meantime, it is important to remember to continue COVID-19 protocols, such as wearing a face covering, practicing good personal hygiene (including frequent hand-washing), social distancing and limiting the size of group gatherings.

Jared Moskowitz, the state’s emergency management director, has clarified that counties can’t limit appointments to residents, meaning that Osceola residents are free to try to register for the vaccine in other places.

Residents are also urged to moderate New Year’s Eve celebrations to prevent an increase in the spread of the disease throughout the community.

According to the CDC, “The safest way to celebrate the new year is to celebrate at home with the people who live with you or virtually with friends and family. Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others. Travel and gatherings with family and friends who do not live with you can increase your chances of getting and spreading COVID-19 or the flu.”

Condado de Osceola, Florida -- El Departamento de Salud -Osceola de Florida cerró temporalmente el registro para la vacunación COVID-19 el miércoles y reanudará el proceso cuando reciba más vacunas del estado de Florida. 

Los residentes pueden monitorear http://osceola.floridahealth.gov para actualizaciones sobre la disponibilidad de vacunas COVID-19. 

Los que ya están registrados están siendo programados para vacunarse o ya han recibido vacunas. El departamento de salud dijo que 170 personas fueron vacunadas el martes y 366 están programadas para hoy (miércoles).

Es vital que el público se dé cuenta de que la cantidad de vacunas liberadas del Estado a Osceola y a otros condados es muy por debajo de la cantidad necesaria para quienes pueden recibirla. A medida que se reciba más vacuna en las próximas semanas y meses, más personas podrán recibir vacunas.  

Mientras tanto, es importante recordar continuar con los protocolos COVID-19, como usar una cubierta facial, practicar buena higiene personal (incluyendo el lavado frecuente de las manos), distanciamiento social, y limitar el tamaño de los grupos sociales o de reunión.

Jared Moskowitz, director de gestión de emergencias del estado, ha aclarado que los condados no pueden limitar las citas a los residentes, lo que significa que los residentes de Osceola son libres de intentar registrarse para la vacuna en otros lugares.

También se insta a los residentes a moderar las celebraciones de la despedida de año para evitar un aumento en la propagación de la enfermedad en toda la comunidad.

Quedarse en casa es la mejor manera de protegerse a sí mismo y a los demás. Viajar y reunirse con familiars y amigos que no viven con ustedes puede aumentar sus posibilidades de contraer y propagar COVID-19 o la gripe”
