Public Invited to See Design of Poinciana Boulevard Road Project

Osceola County, Florida – The community is invited to learn about the design for the preferred alternative which will add capacity and enhance safety along Poinciana Boulevard between Pleasant Hill Road and Trafalgar Boulevard. A public information meeting is scheduled for September 14, 2021.

The preferred alternative was selected by the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners earlier this year and will provide two travel lanes in each direction separated by a grassed median. Traffic signal modifications, drainage improvements, and construction of a 10-foot-wide sidewalk to accommodate pedestrians are included. The design also includes 7-foot-wide buffered bike lanes in each direction. The public meeting is an opportunity for the community to learn about the design, ask questions and provide input. The project is currently in the design phase. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2023.

The County is offering three ways for interested persons to participate.

• In-Person Open House Option: Interested persons may attend an in-person open house at the Association of Poinciana Villages: Poinciana Community Center, 445 Marigold Avenue, Poinciana, FL 34759. Attendees will have an opportunity to come anytime between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to view a looping presentation and project displays, speak with project team members and provide comments. In light of the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, steps are required to protect the health of the public while still ensuring continuity of County business. Virtual access to the public meeting is also being provided.
• Virtual Meeting (Online) Option: Interested persons may participate in a Virtual Public Meeting (VPM) from a computer, tablet or mobile device. The VPM will begin at 6 p.m. and will include the same presentation offered at the in-person location. Attendees in the virtual meeting will have an opportunity to download project displays and provide comments or ask questions. Persons choosing this option are encouraged to contact the project team directly after the meeting to provide comment or ask questions. All participants will receive the same information and have an opportunity to provide comments. Comments received by

September 24, 2021 will become part of the record for this meeting. Those who cannot attend the meeting may review project information and submit a comment on the project webpage at www.osceola.org/go/poincianablvd. All comments will receive the same consideration.

El Público Esta Invitado a ver el Diseño del Proyecto de Ampliación de Poinciana Boulevard

Condado de Osceola – Invitamos a la comunidad a informarse acerca del diseño de la alternativa preferida para aumentar capacidad y mejorar la seguridad en Poinciana Boulevard, entre Pleasant Hill Road y Trafalgar Boulevard. Una reunión de información pública está programada para el 14 de septiembre del 2021.

La alternativa preferida fue seleccionada por la Junta de Comisionados del Condado de Osceola a principios de este año y proporcionará dos carriles de circulación en cada dirección separados por una mediana con césped. También se hará modificaciones de semáforos, mejoras de drenaje, y se construirá una acera de 10 pies de ancho para peatones y ciclistas. El diseño también incluye carriles para bicicletas, en cada dirección, con amortiguación de 7 pies de ancho. La reunión pública creará la oportunidad para que la comunidad aprenda acerca del diseño, haga preguntas, y contribuya comentarios. El proyecto actualmente está en diseño y se anticipa que la construcción empiece en el verano del 2023.

El Condado ofrece tres maneras de participar para personas interesadas:  

• Opción en persona: Aquellas personas interesadas pueden ir a una reunión abierta al público en el Centro Comunitario de la Asociación de Poinciana Villages, en 445 Marigold Avenue, Poinciana, FL 34759.
