Code Enforcement and Nuisance Abatement Board

Osceola County, Florida, has established a Code Enforcement and Nuisance Abatement Board. This Board is authorized to exercise powers as outlined in F.S. Ch. 162 and F.S. Ch. 893. The Board has jurisdiction over matters of nuisance abatement and may exercise the powers as prescribed herein and pursuant to F.S. Ch. 893. The Board may be abolished by ordinance.

The Board has the authority to:

  • Establish rules for its hearings.
  • Summon alleged violators and witnesses to its hearings.
  • Request evidence for its hearings.
  • Take testimony under oath.
  • Issue orders, which carry the force of law, to ensure compliance with regulations.

Appointments and Qualifications

The Board shall consist of seven (7) members who shall be residents of the County and who shall be appointed based on experience or interest in the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board. The membership of the Board shall, whenever possible, include:

  • An architect
  • A businessperson
  • An engineer
  • A general contractor
  • A subcontractor
  • A licensed real estate broker or salesperson

Each district shall have at least one (1) representative on the Board, subject to the above-mentioned professional requirements. The County Commission has the authority to appoint up to two (2) alternate members who can serve in the absence of regular members.

The term limit for members on the Board is three (3) years.

Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, in the Commission Chambers (4th Floor), 1 Courthouse Square, Kissimmee, FL, 34741. Meeting dates and locations are subject to change.
