Health Care Facility Emergency Management

Osceola County works closely with healthcare providers to ensure that residents, visitors, patients, and staff are safe during emergencies like hurricanes, floods, or other disasters. Most health care facilities are required to prepare and maintain a comprehensive emergency management plan (CEMP). These CEMPs must be approved annually in order to maintain licensure.

The most most up-to-date requirements for preparing a comprehensive emergency management plan are on the Agency for Health Care Administration’s website. Follow these guidelines carefully to ensure your plan is approved.

Who Needs an Emergency Management Plan?

Most licensed healthcare facilities in Florida must have a current, approved emergency plan. These plans must be updated and submitted every year to stay compliant with state regulations.

Depending on your facility type, you’ll submit your plan to one of two places:

Submit to the Florida Department of Health (DOH)

If you operate one of the following, your plan must be submitted to the Florida Dept of Health.

  • Home Health Agencies
  • Home Medical Equipment Providers
  • Hospices
  • Nurse Registries

You can find instructions for submitting your plan at cemp.flhealthresponse.com.
